As I write this it is a bit past midnight on Sunday, September 4. I’ve just considered the theocratic thought from Examining the Scriptures Daily. It was so timely and encouraging!
“People who merely profess to be followers of Christ do not engage in this work [declaring the Good News of the Kingdom of God in the humble face-to-face, often one-on-one ministry as Jesus and his followers did – Luke 4:43] in fact, they cannot.”
Why? The article, which is sourced from w10 1/15 3:6 mentioned three reasons:
1. They cannot preach what they do not understand.
2. Most lack the humility and courage needed to face the ridicule and opposition that may result from sharing the kingdom message with their neighbors. (Matthew 24:9; 1 Peter 2:23)
3. False Christians do not have God’s spirit. (John 14:16, 17)
This reminds me of the awesome privilege and command given me to preach, teach and make disciples! (Matthew 28:19, 20)
It is so easy to allow this world to muddle our thinking so that before we know it the purpose and importance – indeed, the vital nature – of the ministry begins to fade from our minds.
May we firmly resolve to recover this sense where lost, to maintain our awareness of how to authentically follow Jesus in the God-approved way, and advance spiritually and theocratically in this new service year of 2011-2012!
May Jehovah bless the spirit you show!
